34th Annual Holocaust Education Week at the Richmond Hill Public Library
“In the Presence of My Neighbours: The Holocaust in Greece.” Documentary by George Gedeon. Director will be present for Q&A after the screening. In this startling investigative film, Canadian-Greek journalist George Gedeon focuses his camera on the historic and current climate of attitudes among Greeks towards Jews. The Jewish population in Greece went from 70,000 prior to the Holocaust, to 5,000 today. The film honours those who perished, the survivors and their saviours, and looks critically at anti-Jewish sentiments in Greece, past and present. Generously co-sponsored by the Rapoport and Rosenthal families, in honour of Mania Rapoport and in memory of Jack Rapoport, both Holocaust survivors.
