The Helen Schwab Collection consists of over one hundred volumes of background information and genealogical data on families who settled in York, Durham, and Peel regions. References to headstones in local cemeteries are also included.
This collection developed as a result of the dedicated efforts of Mrs. Helen Schwab, a library volunteer, who began collecting the information in the 1960s. Since then the collection has grown considerably thanks to the tireless work of Mary-Lou Griffin, another volunteer and Library Board member.
For further information, please visit the Local History & Genealogy Room on the fourth floor of the Central Library.
