Richmond Hill Photo Images
Photograph of the Trench Carriage Works, Richmond Hill's largest employer during the 1870s.
Photographs have been part of the Library's Local History Collection since the collection was begun by then Chief Librarian Patricia Hart in the 1970s. Many Richmond Hill residents have generously donated copies of their family pictures through the years, photographs of heritage buildings have been provided by residents and through the auspices of the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee, and the Liberal newspaper has donated archival photos from the 1960s through to the 1980s.
Library staff has digitized these images and made them available over the Internet, organized by decade, personal and place names and subject, to make this record of Richmond Hill's history easily accessible to researchers, students, and anyone with an interest in our town's past.
