Library cards are free to all who live, work, or attend school, in Richmond Hill, Aurora, Markham, Newmarket, Vaughan (York Public Libraries Network) or King Township.
There is an annual non-resident membership fee of $55.00 is charged to users outside these areas.
New members can apply for a library card at any branch of the Richmond Hill Public Library. You'll need to show identification with your current address.
For adults this includes:
Driver's license
Staff identification card
Current utility bill
Personal cheque
Any source of identification with name and current address (preferably photoID)
For students aged 13 to 17 years:
Student ID card
For children 12 years and under:
Parent's identification as above and signature of parent on registration form
Library cards expire annually. At the time of expiration, your name, mailing address and telephone numbers are verified. All outstanding monies owing to the Library will need to be paid in full before your card can be renewed.
Lost or stolen cards must be reported to the Library immediately to avoid the responsibility for items borrowed against your card without your approval.
Replacement cards are issued at the cost of $2.00. Damaged or worn-out cards are replaced free of charge.
