The Richmond Hill Public Library has served the community for more than 150 years. The Library has over 110,000 active users with on average 17,000 people per week coming to the libraries, using services, resources and programs. It serves the population of approximately 165,000 Richmond Hill residents through its four branches: Central Library, Oak Ridges Moraine Library, Richmond Green Library and Richvale Library.
The Library's mission is to provide a progressive user-oriented library service which responds to and anticipates the educational, leisure and other information needs within the community by:
  • Promoting a lifelong interest in learning
  • Supporting the pursuit of learning
  • Providing information needed for daily living and life transitions
  • Fostering an informed community
  • Offering opportunities for creative use of leisure time
Each year, over 1.5 million books are borrowed and educational related programs are attended by more than 17,000 people, with the majority being children. On-line services are the fastest growing area of library service with over 350,000 on-line sessions on e-journals, e-books, other databases, the Internet, and the local history/genealogy databases.
